NHRA: Loud, Fast & In-Your-Face

"When Kathleen Schmatz asked me to speak, I had to remind her that I come from drag racing: loud, fast, in your face style of motorsports. She assured me you'd be ready," said David Doyel, Director of Performance Aftermarket Marketing for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

"NHRA is the world's largest motorsports organization, but this didn't happen overnight. NHRA was founded by Wally Parks in 1951, and has since established standards and procedures that have governed drag racing through five decades," Doyel said. He also noted that NHRA's national attendance has grown 53 percent since 1990, to nearly 2.4 million fans annually.

NHRA drag racing is about extreme speed, and is the ultimate environment for fans and sponsors. NHRA provides a truly open approach. The access to the stars of our sport is unparalleled. Every NHRA ticket is a pit pass, and an invitation to stroll through Manufacturers Midway, where over 90 sponsors show their wares at all national events. NHRA fans get an up-close look at the action, and our sponsors get up-close contact with the fans.

NHRA strives to increase its market impact with 24 national events, 2.4 million spectators annually, and 40 of the top 50 DMAs. It communicates to fans with a weekly, tabloid-size publication, National DRAGSTER, with NHRA's Web site; and with television programs.

NHRA's strategic objective is to make everyone involved in the partnership of NHRA Drag Racing successful based on their definition of success.
