ACC Helps Members Juggle Their Responsibilities In the past two weeks, I have been bombarded with the fact that in today's business world, the customer is king! Georgia Patrick, the ACC Spring 2001 keynote speaker, did an excellent job of introducing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and how it helps you get closer to your customer. Serving others. That's what customer service is all about; and it is increasingly rare in this fast-paced, impersonal world. I first learned about customer service when I delivered newspapers for the Des Moines Register & Tribune. My goal of perfect service, and the prizes that went with it, drove me to understand exactly where each customer wanted their paper delivered. Some wanted it on the porch; some preferred the milk box; others said the mail slot in the door. Wherever they wanted it, they got it. When I moved on to be a golf caddy and a grocery store clerk, I followed the same principles: give the customer what they want, each time. That's what ACC is striving to do for each member: Give you what you need to help you do your job better. As a professional organization we're here to provide you with opportunities to get together with your peers for education, networking, and fun. One of the greatest ACC member benefits is having access to a group of experts who have faced the same challenges you encounter in your day-to-day work. One way members share ideas is the ACC listserv. If you have never used one before, it is a quick way to share information. For example, say you need a photographer in Phoenix for an upcoming company event. You simply type your request; e-mail it to the ACC listserv; and it is sent to everyone on the list. Anyone who can help sends a reply, which is also sent to everyone on the list. I use a listserv through another professional association, and it has saved me time and money on many occasions. I encourage you to visit our Web site at www.acc-online.org to better understand how it works. Let's serve each other through our listserv and our attendance at ACC events, so that we can help each other do a better job of serving our customers. By the way, where would you like your newsletter delivered?
